To search:
Go to Yahoo > Auctions > Japan, and use THIS KANJI LIST in the search bar (you'll need to have a japanese character set installed on your browser to see them, but oddly enough if you select the little lame boxes that are displayed in its place it still works).
Then click this link to see a picture view of all of the auctions:

I do it the hard way, but I get more options. I even emailed Rinkya about it and they haven't changed squat, despite being a "valued" customer. Oh well.

To buy:
You have to go to their website and set up an account. It may take a little while.
Then they ask for an amount to "hold" on your credit card. It's like a mini budget. You can't spend (or bid) over the amount you designate.
Then it's just a matter of bidding. Once you have won and paid for an auction, the amount is "replenished". It's never extracted from your credit card early, it's just so they know you're good for the money. This service is used a lot for car parts from Japan, so that is the reason for a lot of their rules.

Fees do apply to the auctions though. There is ALWAYS a $15 fee attached to EVERY auction ($5 bank conversion fee and $10 in-Japan shipping fee). Then there is the price of the item and shipping to the USA. USA shipping can be done in bulk to save, but it can get pricy, especially EMS shipping which I recommend due to its reliability and insurance.
Then, if the item is over 1000yen (about $10 here) then another $20 rinkya fee is added.
So, most of the auctions I win have to be under $10, which sucks occasionally. I will go all out occasionally to grab something hyper-rare.

Happy bidding!

:money: :money: :money: :money: :money: :money:

Is there any site you can use to bid on stuff if you don't have a blasted credit card?

There are people over email that can do this sort of thing. They may accept other forms of payment. If I find the guy I know, I'll forward you the email.

I'd say keep it until ebay and YJA auctions merge.

I think it's most useful for the kanji list, and that will still be applicable after they merge.

Thanks for posting this Night. I got a couple of quick questions.

Do you pay with PayPal or prefer credit card? How long does it take for your payment to go through. Also from my understanding of the Faqs, I have to tell rinkya when to ship my items to me right?

Bought some revoltech figs last night...can't wait to get'em :D It's been a day and still no payment confirmation update when I log in?

You had to have set up a credit card when you signed up, and then did the deposit thingy?
Well, that was to set up a max bid limit for yourself, but when you get the email stating you've won (the auction IS over right?), then you can decide how to pay. I usually just use the card on file, as it's easier, but Paypal is an option. I believe it might be a bit slower because they send you an invoice. I haven't paid that way in a while though . . . they probably do it differently now. Maybe they just send you to Paypal now? Payments go through very quicly, so no worries there. The key with using Rinkya (or buying anything out of Japan, really) is patience. Sometimes I wait more than a month to get something I'm head-over-heels about, but I can't get it anywhere else.

Anyway, after you pay, the auction seller sends it to Rinkya Japan's warehouse. When you request it to be shipped (once your order says jprinkya in the status you can do this), they charge your card on file and send it to you. You don't know how much shipping is until after they charge you . . . something I've always felt is odd. You choose how it's shipped, and they give you standard rates, but as every box is a different weight (and they don't provide your weight), it's tough to say. When I bulk mail my stuff, it's always around $100, but I ship a LOT of stuff at once, so it's actually cheaper than shipping the individual items as they arrive. I also use EMS so I get it faster, and it's insured.

I signed up a few months back and did the whole card/deposit thingy, but just made my 1st purchase a couple of days ago. Couldn't remember which card I used so I paid through PayPal lol. Yeap it's changed they directly link ya to PayPal now so sending payment was easy. Thanks for all the info and help Night, you cleared up all my questions. I guess I'll know which card they charged for the shipping when I get my bills.

So you recommend bulk shipping then? Thats what I used to do when a good friend and gf were over in Jpn teaching Eng and I wanted some stuff. I'd buy tons and have'em ship bulk.

I think it's just "Mario" written out in katakana, then the letters "RPG."

If you can see the characters in your web browser, Super Mario RPG would be スーパーマリオRPG.
